This investment provides funding into a collaborative project to deliver an updated viticulture biosecurity plan for the grape-growing industries.

This multi-industry investment improved awareness of the risks posed by spotted wing drosophila, which attacks a range of soft-skinned fruit, as well as enhanced Australia’s capacity to detect and respond to any incursions of the pest.

This investment has successfully demonstrated a method to develop a ‘temperature-sensitive lethal, male-selecting’ strain of Queensland fruit fly (Qfly).

Effect of sulphur dioxide and cold on survival of insects during storage of table grapes (TG15003)

This investment demonstrated that current cold and sulphur dioxide treatments for exported table grapes will kill any accidental occurences of pests including long-tailed mealybug, lady bird beetle, European earwig, Argentine ant, Carpophilus beetle and two-spotted spider mite.
