These investments were responsible for generating pesticide residue and crop safety data to support minor use permit applications and renewals.

Improving the biosecurity preparedness of Australian horticulture for the exotic spotted wing drosophila (Drosophila suzukii) (MT17005)

This multi-industry investment improved awareness of the risks posed by spotted wing drosophila, which attacks a range of soft-skinned fruit, as well as enhanced Australia’s capacity to detect and respond to any incursions of the pest.

This investment has successfully demonstrated a method to develop a ‘temperature-sensitive lethal, male-selecting’ strain of Queensland fruit fly (Qfly).

Biological control of Botrytis cinerea in strawberry (BS12007)

A prototype biological control agent for grey mould in strawberries was produced under this project, based on a non-pathogenic fungus.

Integrated approach for control of foliar diseases in strawberry runner nurseries and management of chemical resistance (BS13004)

This project looked at the control of powdery mildew and leaf blotch in the strawberry industry (both nursery and fruit growing) and led to minor use permits for new fungicides.
