Partnering with Vegetables Western Australia to strengthen VegNET engagement of culturally and linguistically diverse communities (VG25001)
Project start date: 11/09/2025
Project completion date: 26/07/2026
Summary:
This project aims to strengthen the engagement of culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities - particularly Vietnamese-speaking growers - within the Western Australian vegetable industry. Through targeted extension, education, training, and innovation programs, the project will help vegetable growers improve on-farm business performance, profitability, and resilience. Activities include direct support such as farm visits, training days, and communications in growers’ preferred languages, ensuring that information and best practices are accessible and relevant.
Growers will benefit from increased access to tailored support and resources, enabling them to adopt new practices that improve safety, productivity, and profitability. By building capacity and fostering stronger connections between growers and industry support networks, the project will help ensure that all growers, regardless of language or background, can benefit from industry advancements and participate fully in extension activities. The initiative also provides guidance to Regional Development Officers nationally, supporting a more inclusive approach to grower engagement across Australia.
This project is funded by Hort Innovation, using the Vegetable research and development levy and contributions from the Australian Government.
