National strategy, baseline and value perception study for Plus one serve by 2020 program (VG23005)

Key research provider: AUSVEG

What is it all about?

This project lays the groundwork for the "Plus One Serve of Vegetables by 2030" initiative by developing a strategy to encourage Australians to eat more vegetables, establishing a baseline to measure progress against and conducting a study into how Australians currently view vegetables.

By 2030, the program’s goal is for every Australian to eat one more serving of vegetables daily. To do this, the project will figure out how much vegetables people are eating, set this as a starting point, and then plan steps to increase vegetable consumption.

The main tasks of the project include:

  • Creating a nationwide plan to get people to eat more vegetables.
  • Figuring out how much vegetables people are currently eating as a starting point.
  • Finding out what affects how people see the value of vegetables and figuring out how to make vegetables easier for everyone to access.
