Driving awareness and adoption of the citrus industry R&D program through targeted communications (CT13024)

Key research provider: Citrus Australia
Publication date: Sunday, September 11, 2016

What was it all about?

This project, which ran from August 2013 to December 2015, sought to drive awareness and adoption of the citrus industry R&D program among growers.

Guided by a new industry communication plan, the main outputs included the industry’s flagship magazine, Australian Citrus News, which is produced quarterly and mailed to 1800 levy payers for free; monthly practical production-oriented e-newsletter Season Update; and the fortnightly industry e-newsletter Citrus E-news.

Communication and media support was also provided for technical R&D related events such as the 2014 Citrus Technical Forum & Field Days and numerous annual forums in citrus growing regions.

The independent mid-term communications review in 2015 indicated high satisfaction with the project’s activities. Respondents generally felt they were delivered valuable, reliable content that helped with business decisions. They also valued receiving insight into local issues and grower experiences.
