Key research provider: Persimmons Australia Inc

Project start date: 16/06/2025

Project completion date: 11/06/2030

Summary:

The Persimmon Industry Communications and Extension Program aims to strengthen knowledge sharing and industry connection across Australia’s widely dispersed persimmon growing regions. By improving communication and delivering accessible practical information, the project supports the uptake of R&D outcomes and drives innovation on-farm.

Through a range of communication and extension activities, including the Persimmon Press newsletter, industry events, webinars, and a regularly updated website, the program keeps growers informed about the latest research, marketing initiatives, and industry developments.

Flagship activities such as the biennial Persimmon Industry Field Day and Conference will bring growers together from across the country to learn, connect, and hear from expert speakers on key topics. The project also supports collaboration with research agencies, government, and industry partners to help identify and address emerging challenges and opportunities.

By building knowledge, awareness, skills, and aspirations across the industry, and encouraging the adoption of best management practices, the program ultimately aims to improve profitability, sustainability and long-term resilience of the Australian persimmon industry.
