Project start date: 7/08/2025
Project completion date: 21/09/2030
Summary:
The Passionfruit Industry Communications and Extension Program 2025 builds on outcomes achieved in earlier passionfruit communications programs with the objective of effectively communicating and extending to passionfruit growers and key industry stakeholders the outcomes of levy-funded research and development investments. It intends to inspire on-farm engagement with new learnings and technologies for potential practice change and industry advancement.
Of the four priority outcomes laid out in the Strategic Industry Plan (SIP) for Passionfruit 2022–2026, this project will directly support:
Outcome 1: Industry supply, productivity and sustainability
By providing structured communications mechanisms to accelerate use of existing and new R&D findings and proven management practices that will assist growers reduce costs associated with pests, weeds and diseases and assist in establishing a pathway to sustainable industry development.
Outcome 3: Extension and capability
To manage knowledge, relationships, systems and processes required to communicate and collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders with the objective of increasing farm productivity and overall quality and quantity of passionfruit production in Australia.
These outcomes will be delivered through a combination of field days, timely and relevant communications via a range of media, collaboration with other small tropical industries, and dissemination of sustainable best practice guidance derived from Hort Innovation’s levy-funded R&D projects and other best-in-class industry developments.
This project is a strategic levy investment in the Hort Innovation Passionfruit Fund
