Educating health professionals about Australian olive products (OL17002)

What was it all about?

From 2018 to 2019, this investment disseminated evidence-based health information about olive products to an audience of Australian healthcare professionals and other health-interested professionals and consumers (such as fitness professionals and life coaches).

To achieve this, the project team further developed the Olive Wellness Institute – a comprehensive website developed by Boundary Bend Olives containing a wide variety of evidence-based resources, to support the consumption of olive products for health. A key focus was to highlight the Australian certification program for Extra Virgin Olive Oil, and therefore increase awareness and uptake of good quality local products.

The team leveraged many opportunities to share olive health and wellness science messages with health care providers, and market research was conducted to measure changes in attitudes and behaviours over the project lifecycle.

Overall, there was a significant increase in awareness, positive attitude, and likelihood to promote olive products amongst those health professionals surveyed.
