Developing nursery industry career pathways (NY19006)
What’s it all about?
This investment is working to attract new entrants and retain existing staff in all sectors of the Australian nursery industry, through the delivery of training programs and the showcasing of job opportunities. A key output of the project will be the development of a career pathways guide that defines job roles and career pathways throughout the industry.
The project team will be implementing the recommendations delivered by the previous levy-funded project Review of nursery industry career pathways (NY17002), which produced a strategy that details a clear roadmap for skilled career path development in the nursery industry in the short to medium term, and longer-term strategies to sustain an interest in working in the industry.
This new work will see the targeted design and delivery of training programs (formal and informal) that support the upskilling of people in the nursery industry at several levels, as well as showcasing jobs and career pathways that demonstrate dynamic career opportunities within the nursery industry to those in horticulture and other relevant areas.
Key outputs of the program will include:
- Training support networks and systems
- A skilled careers promotion toolkit and promotions
- A central training resources hub (web-based)
- Career jobs and pathways guide with case studies.
This project is a strategic levy investment in the Hort Innovation Nursery Fund
