What was it all about?
The Nursery Industry Development Network (NIDN) was developed many years ago to help enhance the ability of all levy payers to keep up to date with industry developments, marketing activities and technical issues.
This project supported the NIDN and its activities from 2012 to 2015. It identified the key needs of producers for business improvement including best practice, water management, pest and disease management and biosecurity.
It then focused on technology transfer, skills building, capacity development and communications to levy payers to help stimulate growth and sustainable development. This was achieved through business audits and monitoring of farm best management practice, promotional activities such as advertisements and newsletters, as well as workshops, training and communication covering a number of issues – from pest and disease management to understanding biosecurity threats and integrating latest technology into nursery businesses.
The NIDN recorded more than 12,000 stakeholder engagements from industry and the extended value chain during the life of the project and included 627 meetings with external parties on issues critical to the smooth operation of the industry.
