Key research provider: University of Sydney

Project start date: 19/06/2025

Project completion date: 12/07/2028

Summary:

This project is providing management services to run the Marsh Lawson Mushroom Research Unit as a world-class research facility, helping the mushroom industry drive innovation, facilitate sustainable business practices, drive adoption of best practices/beyond compliance, adapt to climate change, and encourage new expertise in industry through R&D pathways.

Applied Horticultural Research (AHR) will provide the centre management and research services outlined in the proposal, while the University of Sydney will provide and maintain the facilities and employ a research technician/grower. The project partners will deliver the day-to-day management of the research unit and will consult with the mushroom industry through the AMGA research committee to ensure research projects run at the Marsh Lawson Mushroom Research Unit align with industry needs.

The target stakeholders of the outputs and activities of this project are the members of the Australian mushroom industry: growers, composters, and supply chain.

Key outputs of the project will be mushroom-related research and demonstration trials at the Marsh Lawson Mushroom Research Unit, research reports to be published quarterly through the mushroom industry communications project, technology transfer programs, collaborative research projects, industry workshops and seminars.
