One Survey for vegetable, onion and potato levy funded projects (MT24015)

Key research provider: Focus Insights Pty Ltd

Project start date: 16/06/2025

Project completion date: 28/02/2030

Project summary:

This project aimed to evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of current monitoring and evaluation (M&E) methodologies used across levy-funded R&D projects in the vegetable, fresh potato, processed potato, and onion sectors. Its primary goal was to develop and test a proof-of-concept for a unified and streamlined M&E survey instrument, assess the feasibility of implementing a standardised approach, and ultimately deliver an annual survey that reduces duplication and grower burden. Through extensive review and analysis of existing methodologies, the project sought to identify commonalities and efficiencies that could support a consolidated survey framework.

The outcomes of this project will enhance industry decision-making and progress evaluation by providing high-quality, centralised data on farm practices and R&D impact. By consolidating survey efforts, the project supports more efficient data collection and enables evidence-based decisions aligned with industry goals. Key stakeholders, including Hort Innovation, levy-paying growers, and industry segment bodies, will benefit from improved insights and reduced survey fatigue. The feasibility study and annual survey delivery are expected to serve as foundational tools for future RD&E planning and performance tracking.
