BerryQuest International 2022 (MT19009)

Key research provider: Berries Australia
Publication date: Tuesday, February 8, 2022

What was it all about?

This project delivered BerryQuest International 2022, a berry industry conference which is held approximately every two years in Australia. The ultimate purpose of the event was to drive practice change and improve the profitability of the berry sector.

After being postponed twice because of COVID-19, BerryQuest International 2022 was eventually held from 25 to 28 July 2022 on the Gold Coast, with a packed three-day program and almost 500 people attending from across Australia, New Zealand and beyond.

The event was a key joint initiative across the berry category that united berry growers with key supply chain figures, researchers, and industry experts. It facilitated knowledge transfer on key issues such as:

  • Biosecurity
  • Trade
  • Market development
  • Marketing
  • Adoption of R&D outcomes.

It was an opportunity for industry to be engaged with the outcomes of their levy investments, as well as hear from international experts and learn from field visits. Furthermore, it allowed Hort Innovation to extend and transfer knowledge about levy investment (both R&D and marketing) in the berry category (including blueberry, raspberry and blackberry, and strawberry), with a focus on communicating best practice to berry growers and improving their knowledge and skills to enable adoption of R&D outcomes funded through the grower levy and the Australian government.
