Lychee industry communications program (LY20000)

What was it all about?

This project, which took place from 2017 to 2023, provided communication and extension services to the Australian lychee industry to increase knowledge about levy-funded R&D and marketing investments. The program facilitated behavioural change and encouraged the uptake and adoption of best management practices.

The project provided the Australian lychee industry with a wide range of communication outputs, including:

• Triannual industry journal Living Lychee, with past issues available here
• Regular industry e-newsletter
• Updating and maintenance of industry website with R&D related content
• Annual grower R&D forum
• Information for growers on export accreditation.

The project has led to positive outcomes for the lychee industry and relevant stakeholders including:

• An increase in the number of growers and properties taking part in the USA Export program, which aimed at increasing exporter’s knowledge of how to export their lychees overseas, with the overall aim of boosting the volume of exports.
• An increase in the volume of lychees exported over the past three years.
• Increased knowledge and adoption of levy- funded R&D projects.
