Lychee pest and disease field guide (LY19001)

Key research provider: The Queensland Department of Agriculture and Fisheries

What’s it all about?

This project is updating the Lychee pest and disease handbook, a resource that assists lychee growers and industry stakeholders to effectively monitor and manage pests and diseases in their orchards. When released, the updated guide will be distributed to lychee growers in hard copy through the Australian Lychee Growers’ Association and will also be available online.

The guide was last updated in 2008, so the new version will include the addition of new pests and diseases of concern as well as information on major exotic pests and diseases not currently present in Australia.

Key activities for the project team in development of the guide include reviewing the current status and priority of present pests and diseases; identifying exotic lychee pests and disease threats; identifying the priority pests and diseases relevant to specific production regions; and determining appropriate control measures for each pest.
