Dried fruits knowledge management project (DG13005)

Key research provider: Dried Fruits Australia
Publication date: Monday, June 27, 2016

What was it all about?

This project funded the construction of a knowledge management system to preserve, and provide continued access to, the many research findings on dried grape production that have been developed over several decades.

A project management committee was established to oversee the project, and growers, researchers, a librarian and an IT expert were included, in addition to representatives from Dried Fruits Australia.

The committee agreed that an online library would be the most cost-effective way to preserve scientific knowledge while allowing growers easy access.

Following a scan of the literature, and a search for any additional information required, more than 750 publications were scanned and uploaded into the repository, including…

  • Research reports
  • Papers
  • Best practice information
  • Books
  • Past issues of The Vine and its predecessor, Dried Fruits News.

The online library was officially launched at the Dried Fruits Australia Annual Growers Forum held in October 2015. It provides growers and processors with a trove of information that they can use to boost productivity and profitability.
