Monitoring cherry supply chain quality (CY25002)
Project summary
This project is focused on lifting consistency and quality across the Australian cherry industry, ensuring consumers enjoy high‑quality cherries every season. While Australian cherries are highly regarded for their flavour, variability in eating quality can affect consumer satisfaction and repeat purchasing. The project will establish an agreed, evidence‑based minimum quality standard for the industry, providing clear guidance for growers producing premium fruit and practical support for those working to meet the new benchmark.
Led by Delytics Ltd and supported by Rudge Produce Systems and CSIRO, the three‑year project will work closely with growers and the supply chain to validate quality measures through sensory analysis and supply‑chain monitoring at wholesale and retail. Growers will receive technical support and practical tools to help consistently meet the standard, improving consumer confidence, driving demand and creating long‑term value for the Australian cherry sector, in line with the Cherry Strategic Investment Plan’s quality‑led growth objectives.
