Developing knowledge and management of strawberry red leaf disorder (BS19001)
What's it all about?
This project is investigating the causes, mechanisms and potential management strategies for red leaf disorder in strawberries. Red leaf disorder is characterised by reddish discolouration of plant leaves, with affected plants typically displaying reduced vigour and yield.
Previous investigations into potential causes of red leaf disorder have found no obvious single cause, suggesting that the disorder and mechanisms behind its transmission may be quite complex.
In the first phase of this project, the project team will undertake a deeper analysis of existing data and expand the investigation into potential causes of red leaf disorder. Any insights into causes will be communicated to the strawberry industry via their communications and extension program.
This project is a strategic levy investment in the Hort Innovation Strawberry Fund
