Avocado Domestic Market Development Manager (AV25001)
Project start date: 27/08/2025
Project completion date: 19/11/2030
Summary:
The Avocado Domestic Market Development Manager project aims to optimise the performance of domestic market development and industry engagement initiatives for Australian avocados. With production forecast to rise from 130,911 tonnes in 2023–24 to at least 170,000 tonnes in 2029–30, the project will ensure that domestic market opportunities and challenges are proactively addressed, and that market development activities are well-coordinated and responsive to industry needs.
Key outcomes include identifying and implementing R&D opportunities that support value and volume growth, supporting retail and foodservice market growth through engagement with major retailers and foodservice customers, and increasing the consistency of supply and quality of Australian-grown avocados in the domestic market. The project also focuses on continuous improvement of marketing and market development programs, providing a central point of contact for the supply chain, and delivering regular industry forums and stakeholder engagement.
By strengthening domestic demand and supporting best practice across the supply chain, the project aims to help growers achieve better returns, maintain quality standards, and respond effectively to changing market conditions.
This project is a strategic levy investment in the Hort Innovation Avocado Fund
