Global biological control investigation and pathway identification study tour (AS25006)
This project is helping the horticulture sector investigate global advances in biological control options through a targeted study tour to Europe, including Fruit Logistica 2026 in Berlin and selected research/farming sites. The project focuses on learning from regions that are further advanced in biological adoption due to regulatory, market and sustainability drivers.
Up to 10 leading Australian producers will take part in the tour where they will engage with global suppliers, researchers and growers, and participate in on-farm visits to see products and systems in practice. Insights will be captured through structured discussions, interviews and case studies, then shared through a final written report, presentations and knowledge‑transfer sessions.
Australian growers currently lack clear, cross‑commodity evidence on where biological products fit, how well they work, their cost–benefit, and how they align with Australian regulation. This project addresses that gap by identifying practical adoption pathways and priority opportunities relevant to local conditions.
The expected impact of this study tour is improved grower confidence, clearer guidance on biological inputs, and stronger industry readiness to adopt sustainable practices that help Australian horticulture remain globally competitive.
