Almond market access and trade development 2023 – 2026 (AL22004)

Key research provider: Almond Board of Australia

What's it all about?

This investment supports the continued growth in export markets for Australian almonds through a range of market access and development activities.

The Australian almond industry’s challenge is to develop markets for the forecast continued growth in production. Following the last five years of incremental planting, the production of Australian almonds is forecast to reach 175,000 tonnes by 2025. Total shipments will need to grow by almost 50,000 tonnes to meet the needs of the industry. More than 36,000 tonnes, or 74 per cent of this incremental volume, will need to be achieved through export growth.

This program supports the activities of the Almond Board of Australia’s Market Development Manager who leads key trade development activities such as progressing market access, delivering outbound and inbound trade missions, conducting market research, educating health and food industry professionals, and communicating to key trade stakeholder groups.
