Validation of physical weed technologies in Australia (onion and vegetable)

Hort Innovation is seeking a suitably qualified, experienced and capable delivery partner for the project: Validation of physical weed technologies in Australia (onion and vegetable) (MT25014).

The overall objectives of the services are to:

  • Establish a structured validation gateway that independently benchmarks emerging physical weed control technologies and generates decision-ready evidence to inform future adoption-stage investments
  • Identify and evaluate a defined portfolio of global and domestic emerging physical weed control technologies – including mechanical, thermal, electrical/laser, pressure-based and hybrid systems – through structured comparative validation trials under Australian production conditions
  • Independently assess the technical performance, operational suitability and economic viability of candidate technologies, enabling objective comparison against existing practices and supporting informed industry decision-making
  • Hort Innovation has prepared a Request for Proposal (RFP) document that provides background information, outlines the scope of services, the procurement process and the information required from interested parties.
