International avocados Gulfood Tradeshow FY25(AV23005)
What was it all about?
This project delivered an Australian avocado industry presence at the 2025 Gulfood Trade Show in Dubai and strengthened international engagement for the sector, particularly in Middle Eastern markets.
Through a dedicated exhibition space, the project helped position Australian avocados with key global buyers and trade partners, supported brand visibility, and created opportunities for future export growth.
The project brought together Hort Innovation and industry representatives to showcase Australian avocados to importers, distributors, retailers and foodservice professionals. Activities included trade meetings with major buyers, on-stand engagement, market visits, and live chef-led sampling sessions that demonstrated product quality, taste and versatility. These interactions generated market intelligence, reinforced existing relationships and opened new conversations with potential customers.
The project addressed the challenge of building awareness and demand for Australian avocados in highly competitive international markets, where face‑to‑face engagement and brand presence are critical to maintaining and expanding trade relationships. Without a coordinated industry presence, opportunities to influence buyers and understand market trends can be limited.
As a result, the project is expected to support future export opportunities by strengthening relationships with international buyers, improving market understanding, and reinforcing the reputation of Australian avocados as a premium product. Over time, this work is expected to contribute to improved market access, demand growth and stronger returns for Australian avocado growers.
This project was a strategic levy investment in the Hort Innovation Avocado Fund
