In 2022, this investment developed a five-year export strategy for the avocado industry to support growth in exports, ensure the ability to maintain and increase global market share, build export capacity and capability, and provide necessary connections and support to relevant stakeholders across the export supply chain.
The new export strategy contributes to the Hort Innovation Avocado Strategic Investment Plan (2022-2026) by clearly articulating export development challenges and growth opportunities. The strategy outlines what direction the avocado industry needs to take in market access prioritisation and development, industry export capability building, and international market development.
The project team consulted extensively with the avocado industry during the export strategy development. This process included the distribution of a ‘white paper’ to capture the current state of the industry and a draft export strategy for stakeholders to provide feedback on. As a result, the export strategy offers a clear understanding of the industry’s ambitions as a whole and a clear understanding of export opportunities.
