This initiative brought growers and the wider citrus industry together to share the latest research, development, extension and marketing findings, including levy-funded research. Two congresses were delivered under the project, providing opportunities for growers to hear from researchers and industry experts, see new technologies and connect with others across the industry.
In Griffith, the 2025 Congress combined conference sessions and a trade expo with an on-farm field day, where growers could see research and technology demonstrated in a working orchard. The 2026 Congress in Adelaide attracted 470 delegates, including 132 growers, and featured 70 speaker sessions covering areas such as production, technology, crop protection, post-harvest, trade and biosecurity. It also included a showcase of citrus levy-funded research, research posters and a trade expo. Presentations and articles from the events were made available to citrus levy payers.
Responding to challenges facing citrus businesses, including rising input costs, labour shortages, biosecurity threats and changing export markets, the two congresses provided a national forum for growers to access current information and connect directly with researchers, suppliers and other industry participants. Delegate feedback showed networking was the main reason for attending both events, while practical demonstrations and research content were also valued.
This project supported greater awareness of levy-funded research and provided growers with information on production, markets, technology, post-harvest and biosecurity to help inform on-farm and business decisions.
This project was a strategic levy investment in the Hort Innovation Citrus Fund
