What was it all about?

This project provided the Australian almond industry with reliable, up-to-date production, planting, sales and market data to support planning and decision-making across the supply chain. 

The project maintained and expanded the industry’s statistical collection systems, delivered annual crop estimates, monthly position reports and the annual Almond Insights publication, and verified planting data through independent orchard mapping. The work strengthened confidence in industry statistics and provided stakeholders with a clear picture of industry growth, production trends, export performance and future supply. 

The project collected information from growers, processors, marketers and other industry stakeholders through annual planting surveys, crop forecasts, monthly sales reporting and industry database updates.

Almond Insights was transformed from a printed publication into a live online resource that can be updated as new information becomes available. The project also introduced additional commentary and market analysis to monthly position reports to provide greater context around sales performance, supply and demand trends, and global pricing. 

The project has supported the almond industry by providing trusted data that helps identify trends, forecast outcomes and guide strategic planning.
