What is it all about?
This project is strengthening the Australian mushroom industry’s ability to prepare for and respond to crises and reputational risks. It builds on the industry’s existing Reputation Risk Management Framework to help growers and industry leaders stay informed, respond quickly and manage issues before they escalate.
The work includes annual reviews of the industry’s crisis and risk management framework, daily media monitoring, monthly risk reports and ongoing advice when issues emerge. Dedicated online dashboards will give industry leaders and growers access to current plans, updates, response materials and key information during an issue.
Media and crisis management training will help nominated spokespeople and other key stakeholders understand their roles and respond confidently under pressure. Webinars, industry communications and conference exhibitions will also share practical information about emerging risks and the resources available to manage them.
Together, these activities will help the industry maintain clear response plans, improve crisis management capability and communicate consistently when food safety, supply chain, workforce, environmental or other reputational issues arise. For growers, this means better access to reliable information and clearer guidance about what is happening, what action to take and where to direct enquiries during an industry issue.
