What was it all about?
This project established Mushroom Health Science Australia (MHSA), a central online resource designed to provide healthcare professionals with credible, evidence-based information on mushroom nutrition and health.
The project successfully brought together previously scattered resources into a single platform and built a growing network of healthcare professionals interested in mushroom nutrition science. Evaluation showed that health professionals who engaged with the platform had greater confidence in discussing mushroom health benefits and were more likely to recommend mushrooms. The project also built a database of almost 3,000 healthcare professionals and delivered strong engagement through webinars, conferences, digital campaigns and educational communications.
The project supported the platform with a multi-channel engagement strategy including webinars, conference exhibitions, direct communications and digital promotion. Audience surveys and website analytics were used to measure awareness, engagement and changes in knowledge and confidence.
The platform provides the mushroom industry with a long-term asset that will support ongoing education and engagement with healthcare professionals. Increased awareness, knowledge and confidence among health professionals are expected to strengthen recommendations about mushroom consumption and contribute to future demand for mushrooms.
The project also identified opportunities to further increase platform awareness, tailor content for different professional groups and continue building healthcare professional engagement through targeted communication and educational activities.
