This project will develop and evaluate new approaches to how research and development (R&D) is commissioned and delivered for the Australian avocado industry. It will work with growers, researchers and other industry stakeholders to develop potential innovation models, supported by a business case and implementation plan to guide future investment.

Key outputs will include an innovation model scan drawing on more than 40 international models and cross-sector approaches, and one or more avocado innovation models co-developed with industry. The project will also produce a business case outlining success measures, risks and the investment rationale, along with a staged implementation plan.

Together, these outputs will help inform future avocado R&D investment decisions and support an approach that better meets industry needs and delivers value for avocado levy payers.
