Bring a banana, bring a mate: Score free entry to over 900 gyms this National Banana Day

Publication date: October 7, 2026

National Banana Day - Gym Pass - Article Image

Need a free spotter? To celebrate National Banana Day on October 7th, Australian Bananas is once again turning the country’s favourite natural energy source into a nationwide gym pass.

Fitness is always better when it’s shared. In fact, new consumer research reveals that teaming up is the ultimate workout motivation, with nearly half (45%) of Australians feeling more inspired to get active if a mate tags along. This team spirit is especially strong among Gen Z (ages 18 - 29), spiking to 7 in 10 (71%) who prefer to workout alongside a friend.

Whether you’re lifting heavy on the gym floor, enjoying a stretching session, or introducing a friend to the gym for the very first time, showing up with a buddy and an Aussie banana is the easiest way to get energised. Bursting with natural goodness, Australian Bananas keep you moving before, during, and after your workout, making them the ultimate grab-and-go fuel to make your body sing!

To claim the free workout for yourself or your mate, simply purchase an Aussie banana each from your local supermarket or grocer and present it at any participating gym.

Over 900 gyms across Australia are opening their doors for the occasion, including major networks such as Fitness First, Goodlife Health Clubs, Fernwood Fitness, Plus Fitness, Club Lime, Zap Fitness, World Gym, and more.

Miki Buchanan, Australian Banana grower, said: “It’s fantastic to have the Banana Gym Pass back for its third year. As growers, we absolutely love seeing Aussies use our bananas not just as their ticket into the gym, but also as their go-to training snack. Bananas are packed with essential nutrients like potassium and vitamin B6 to restore tired muscles and keep you powered through every session. Make sure you grab an Aussie banana, bring a mate along, and get moving on October 7!”
