What is it all about?

This project is helping drive the next stage of development and extension for Australia's processing tomato industry. By sharing practical knowledge and evaluating new technologies, it aims to improve productivity, profitability and sustainability while addressing priority issues such as soil, water, disease and weed management.  

Activities will include cultivar evaluation and on-farm trials, field days, industry forums and farm visits. The project will also collect and share industry statistics, support biosecurity awareness, and assess emerging technologies relevant to the processing tomato industry.  

Research findings and practical information will be shared with growers, processors and other industry stakeholders through events, publications and digital channels. These activities will support stronger connections across the industry and encourage the sharing of knowledge and experience.  

By linking research, innovation and extension with industry needs, the project will support the adoption of proven practices across the Australian processing tomato industry. The intended outcome is a more capable, innovative and resilient industry that is better equipped to respond to emerging challenges and opportunities.
