This project aims to strengthen the nursery industry's long-term data set by collecting nationally consistent information on production, business performance and market trends across production nurseries in Australia. Building on previous nursery statistics projects, it will improve understanding of industry structure, productivity, costs and market dynamics.
Data will be collected annually from approximately 300 production nurseries through a national survey. The information will be used to produce industry reports, online data resources and annual summary outputs. Additional supply chain surveys and economic analysis will provide further insight into industry performance, market trends and the nursery sector's contribution to the wider economy.
Growers will have access to updated benchmarking tools designed to support businesses with different levels of experience using industry data, including a simplified foundation tool and a more comprehensive advanced tool. Results and tools will be shared through webinars, industry briefings, communications activities and training sessions to help growers apply industry data to business planning and decision-making.
By extending national data collection and improving access to industry insights, the project will support benchmarking, performance tracking and strategic planning across the nursery sector. The statistics, reports and benchmarking tools will provide growers and industry stakeholders with data to support decision-making and improve understanding of productivity, profitability and market trends over time.
