A snapshot of the 2025/26 turf marketing campaign

Publication date: October 12, 2026

Article-MU-Turf-2025-26

Hort Innovation invests the turf marketing levy in activities designed to raise awareness of the value of natural turf and strengthen connections between industry, decisionmakers and the broader community.

In 2025/26, marketing activity continued to build on the ‘Choose the Joy of Natural Lawn’ platform, celebrating the role natural turf plays in creating healthy, active and connected outdoor spaces. The campaign aimed to reinforce the environmental, social and recreational benefits of natural turf while supporting greater awareness of its contribution to Australian communities.

Insights that drove our thinking

During the year, new research provided evidence of the value of natural turf to Australia. The study found that natural turf contributes approximately $5.1 billion annually to the Australian economy, supports more than 15,000 jobs, and delivers an estimated $42 billion in annual public value through recreation, community wellbeing, residential amenity and other broader societal benefits.

The research also highlighted the importance of continuing to build awareness of the benefits of natural turf among both key decisionmakers and the broader community. As councils and other stakeholders make decisions about the future of public and recreational spaces, the findings identified an opportunity to ensure the environmental, social and lifestyle benefits of natural turf remain understood and considered.

What did the campaign achieve?

Development and rollout of a co-branded grower library provided a new platform to support industry engagement and communication.

Facebook advertising provided an opportunity to bring the ‘Choose the Joy of Natural Lawn’ campaign platform to life and reinforce the environmental, social and recreational benefits of natural turf.

A dedicated media booth for use at trade shows and events was developed and showcased at GreenScape Expo Brisbane, featuring campaign branding, supporting materials and the new media booth.

Together, these activities helped strengthen awareness of natural turf and support a consistent industry message about its value and contribution to Australian communities.
