Applications open for 2027 Nuffield Scholarships

Publication date: March 10, 2026

Apply Now Iain MacLennan 1500 x 500 mm

Australian primary producers are invited to apply for the 2027 Nuffield Scholarships, with applications now open.

This year, Hort Innovation will be supporting scholarships in the apple and pear, avocado, mushroom, onion, turf and vegetable industries.

For more than 75 years, Nuffield has developed influential agricultural leaders by providing farmers with the opportunity to explore global best practice, build international networks and return home with insights that strengthen Australian primary production.

The scholarship is designed for producers who are prepared to challenge assumptions, ask better questions and contribute meaningfully to the future of their industry. It is not an academic program, but a practical leadership journey grounded in real-world farming systems and global collaboration.

Scholars undertake international travel, conduct individual research and engage with peers across industries and countries. Many alumni go on to contribute through governance roles, industry advocacy, innovation and collaborative leadership.

If you are a primary producer who cares about the long-term sustainability and profitability of Australian agriculture, the Nuffield Scholarship offers a unique opportunity to step back, gain perspective and influence what comes next.

Applications close on 8 May 2026.
