The verdict is in – Aussie mums and dads have voted, and the Australian Avocados ‘Our Green Gold’ campaign won the Food Fame Award at the annual Parent’s Voice Fame & Shame Awards.
Now in its 17th year, the annual awards highlight the best and worst of food marketing and celebrate those promoting a healthier lifestyle to kids.
A record number of nominations were received for the Fame & Shame Awards this year with almost 100 advertisements nominated.
While this year saw an increasing number of unhealthy advertisements for food and drink products, our strong healthy food campaign received parent’s positive support, along with Woolworths’ ‘Today’s Fresh Food People’ ad.
The Australian Avocados ‘Our Green Gold’ campaign, funded by Australian avocado grower levies and delivered through Hort Innovation, was congratulated by parents as a food advertisement that promotes healthy eating to children in a fun and appealing way.
A spokesperson from Parents Voice said “With one in four Australian children being above a healthy weight, health food advertising is a huge priority and the ‘Our Green Gold’ campaign helps to achieve this”.
The ‘Our Green Gold’ campaign aired in television breaks during the Olympics and Paralympics, social media and radio, and on billboards throughout major cities including a mural painting in the iconic Kings Cross – with activities continuing to support the WA Hass crop and the Shepard variety season.
