Building productivity – building profitability: 2014 macadamia conference (MC13703)
Publication date: October 10, 2016
Delivery Partner: Australian Macadamia Society
This project funded a four-day conference for more than 400 Australian macadamia growers, processors, marketers, researchers and suppliers in October 2014.
The 2014 Australian Macadamia Society ‘40th Anniversary’ Industry Conference took place in Lismore and on macadamia farms throughout the Northern Rivers, shining the spotlight on Australia’s largest macadamia growing region.Attendees heard from 50 speakers from Australia and overseas about issues crucial to the industry, including productivity, price, new varieties and product and market development. The macadamia research community also presented major findings of projects.
Australia’s best growers provided case studies, and there were field days, equipment demonstrations and a trade show. In addition, delegates heard from representatives in other, similar industries, who spoke on their success stories in marketing, consumer needs and horticultural developments.
Delegates were surveyed about the success of the conference and overall the responses indicated that it was stimulating and useful.
