    What was it all about?

This project, undertaken from 2014 to 2017, provided tailored industry development services for the Queensland turf industry to improve capacity, profitability and professionalism.

    Activities included:

    • Engagement with the turf grower and turf maintenance sectors in Queensland

    • Ongoing engagement with other related industry peak bodies

    • Development of an appropriate turf grower and turf maintenance communication program and input into national industry communication. This included development of 23 fact sheets and two case studies available on the Turf Queensland website.

    • Development of strategies and implementing programs of improved biosecurity for dealing with red imported fire ants

    • Development of water and energy use efficiencies within the turf production environment

    • Workshops and field days on topics of interest to turf producers

    • Tailoring industry training programs to suit the needs of growers across Queensland’s diverse climate zones

    • Raising awareness of nutrient and sediment run-off and erosion control utilising turf grass

    • Development of strategies to improve environmental sustainability, grower profitability, workplace practices, and to reduce waste, and implementation of those programs.

Together these activities boosted the sustainability of the turf industry in Queensland.
