SHIFt – Shaping the future of horticulture investment

Hort Innovation has created a simpler, more useful way to plan and report investment in horticulture. This new approach is called Horticulture Investment Roadmap, and it has been shaped through collaboration with growers and industry.
Investment planning should be easy to map, easy to understand, easy to monitor, and better able to respond to industry priorities as they change. The new Horticulture Investment Roadmap approach is designed to make that happen, while improving visibility of how investment decisions are made and how progress is reported.
The Horticulture Investment Roadmap approach is a clear and flexible way to guide investment in research and development (R&D) and marketing, with:
Simple structure and language across all investment plans
Easy access to information about levy investments through a new dashboard (launching second half of 2026)
Plans that can adapt as priorities change
Clear insights to support better decision-making for industry and growers
Opportunities for multi-industry collaboration.
Consultation across all industries is complete, and the 2027+ Horticulture Investment Roadmaps have been finalised. Industry Service Managers will share the new roadmaps with their peak industry representative bodies (PIBs) and strategic investment advisory panels (SIAPs) before 22 July 2026. In late September, the new digital Dashboard will go live, and all R&D and marketing projects being supported by levy funds will be easy to review, track and compare.
