What was it all about?

Hort Innovation commissioned this research to better understand the data and insights needs of Australia's horticulture industries and to develop a clear roadmap for meeting those needs into the future. 

The project reviewed Hort Innovation's existing data tools, platforms and information products, identifying gaps, opportunities and priorities to ensure growers and industry stakeholders have access to the information they need to make informed decisions and support industry growth.

A key outcome of the project was the development of a strategic roadmap built around four priority pillars: building supply resilience and industry readiness, fuelling domestic growth, accelerating export opportunities, and creating a "one stop intelligence" platform for the horticulture sector. These pillars highlighted the need for improved industry statistics, enhanced consumer and market intelligence, stronger export insights, and a centralised digital platform to provide easier access to horticulture data and information.

The project delivered a detailed product roadmap, priority recommendations and an investment pathway that will help guide future data and insights investments. 

By establishing a clear strategic direction, the work strengthened Hort Innovation's ability to provide growers and industry stakeholders with the trusted data, intelligence and insights needed to support productivity, competitiveness and long-term industry growth.
