Turf industry statistics 2017/18 to 2019/20 (TU17005)
What was it all about?
Spanning from 2017 to 2021, this project produced three years of insightful data for the turf production industry and developed valuable resources for turf producers through benchmarking and data for industry development.
The project completed an annual survey of turf businesses, extensive grower engagement, analysis of the survey results, grower benchmarking reports and industry snapshot reports.
Some high-level findings from the project showed that on average:
- 68 per cent of businesses transport turf directly to the customer.
- Retail and trade equate to 38 per cent and 37 per cent respectively, of all turf sales from the farm.
- The turf industry employs around 1771 full time equivalent employees.
