What is Hort Connections?

Hort Connections 2022 is a space for networking, education and business for the entire fresh produce industry.

Hort Connections 2022 is being held from 6-8 June at the Brisbane Convention Centre. The conference theme – growing together – will highlight the importance for every sector of the horticulture industry to come together to build a stronger more resilient food system to feed local and international consumers.

Hort Connections speakers and exhibitors will showcase the latest research, technologies and innovations to offer new perspectives on how the industry can grow together.

Hort Innovation at Hort Connections

Sit down for a 10-minute one-on-one chat with the people closest to the topics and investments you care about. Some of the topics include biosecurity, food safety, international trade, integrated pest management, and pollination. Find out more about our team and book your session here.

Monday

On the opening evening of Hort Connections, join us at the Hort Innovation stand to enjoy a beverage from the Cidery Bar and a meal from the Mighty Mushie Eatery.

We are also hosting Alumni Leadership Networking Drinks for past participants of our Hort Frontiers Leadership Fund investments.

Tuesday

On Tuesday, we have a jam-packed schedule for everyone to enjoy:

  • Grab a baked good from our Sustainable Bakery that contains green banana and sweetpotato flour.
  • Taste sweet papaya sorbet at the Papaya Palace.
  • Participate in the Papaya Sensory Experience, where your views on papaya will be used in our Hort Frontiers genetics of fruit sensory preferences project.
  • Join us for avocado-inspired fries, toasties and bowls at Our Green Gold Diner for dinner.
  • Quench your thirst at the Tropicana Bar.

We are also hosting Extension Networking Drinks for personnel involved in Hort Innovation funded industry development projects.

Wednesday

Panel session - Growing Australian horticulture through innovation and sustainability

Wednesday 8 June at 2pm in the Growing and Farming stream, Meeting rooms 1 and 2

What does growing horticulture through innovation and sustainability mean? How interlinked are sustainability credentials and innovation? Do Australian and global leaders think companies, industry and government can grow through innovation and sustainability? This session will set the scene for the economic drivers and trends that will shape the coming year and spark a discussion about adaption and innovation domestically and globally.
