Extending OliveCare to foster excellence in production of Australian olives (OL17006)
What’s it all about?
Beginning in late 2018, this investment is tasked with supporting olive producer participation relating to the Australian Olive Industry Code of Practice (OliveCare) and expand participation to more retailers, food service distributors and exporters. By extension, the project will help build and maintain the quality of Australian olive products.

The project team is working across several key areas.
Building the quality reputation of Australian olive oil, table olives and other olive products
The project team conducted a desk audit of all OliveCare® signatories to ensure that the quality reputation of Australian olive products is maintained. This included ensuring that information was correct for membership, product compliance certificates, current certified brands, extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) and table olive storage declarations, compliance with Australian Consumer Law and ANZFA Schedule 20 (chemical use declaration, spray diary records and storage), and declaration of biosecurity awareness and preparedness.
Participation in OliveCare
To increase producer participation and extend supply chain membership in the OliveCare Australian Olive Industry Code of Best Practice program, updated resources have been released including a comprehensive check list of production best practice elements and access to new national vocational training resources.
Communication and extension
Program members participated in regional field days organised by the Australian Olive Association to explore extension services focused on pest and disease issues including black scale, olive lace bug and anthracnose.
