Australasian Plant Breeding Conference
The 16th Australasian Plant Breeding Conference (APBC) will be held at QT Hotel, Surfers Paradise, Queensland, Australia on 21-24 June 2020.
This is the first conference since 2014 and will provide the opportunity for breeders and allied scientists across all crops (including grains, fodder, fruit and nuts, forestry, floriculture) to come together.
The theme “Towards 2050” has been chosen to capture the long-term nature of plant breeding, and the essential role the discipline will play in delivering food and prosperity to the predicted world population of 9 billion by this date, in the face of decreasing available production area, climate change and demand for new products.
Topics for each session will be developed from submitted abstracts across the broad sub-themes of:
- Predictive breeding
- Products for markets
- Dealing with the impacts of variability and climate change
- Preparing for the future
