Hort Innovation is seeking a suitably qualified, experienced and capable delivery partner for the project: Business case to implement a marketing levy for the Australian melon industry (VM20004).

The objectives of the services are to assist Hort Innovation:

  • Develop a business case that can be used to demonstrate the viability of a melon marketing program and indicate the optimum investment split between a marketing levy and the R&D levy.

The business case will be used by the Australian Melon Association and Hort Innovation for consultation with growers and government.

This will be achieved through the following project components:

  • Literature review of case studies and reports on fresh produce marketing programs by melons or similar fruit, especially in response to a drop in demand due to a food safety breach.
  • Economic modelling of the potential impact of a melon marketing campaign in Australia, including the relationship between research and development funding and industry productivity.
  • A business case and short discussion paper about the value of adding a marketing component to the melon levy that can be used in consultation with melon levy papers.

Hort Innovation has prepared a Request for Proposal (RFP) document that provides background information, outlines the scope of services, the procurement process and the information required from interested parties.
