Ways to Apply
Please read the following information before applying. There are several opportunities to submit projects to HAL for consideration:
The Industry Call is for industry-specific R&D proposals involving R&D levies and/or voluntary contributions (VCs). Proposals are reviewed by the relevant Industry Advisory Committee (IAC) and therefore must align with the industry strategic plan and annual priorities. All HAL investment must align with the Australian Government’s Rural Research and Development Priorities.
The General Call is for R&D proposals that do not use levy funds. HAL can co-invest with a proposal applicant on a dollar for dollar basis. The funds contributed by the applicant are referred to as Voluntary Contributions (VCs). HAL is able to provide matching funds from the Australian Government for VCs in line with the detail in the Australian Government Matching Funds for R&D section.
Proposals received during the General Call are reviewed by HAL and must align with HAL's priorities, represent blue sky research or address issues that affect all of horticulture as opposed to individual industries. All HAL investment must align with the Australian Government’s Rural Research and Development Priorities.
- Commissioned & Tendered Projects and Extraordinary Calls
Throughout the year HAL also commissions projects and tenders projects and holds extraordinary calls which can be industry or topic specific. Check the website and HAL’s email publication Horti-Happenings (to subscribe) for more information. Public tenders may also be advertised in the “Public Tenders” section of The Weekend Australian.
