Continued access to adequate, reliable and secure water supplies is a fundamental requirement for the horticulture industry. It is for this reason that Horticulture Australia Limited in partnership with the across industry program has funded the Horticulture Water Initiative. The Initiative provides a coordinated approach to water issues and aims to ensure access for the horticulture industry through demonstration of its credentials as an environmentally responsible user of water.

The Horticulture Water Initiative is managed by an industry based Water Steering Committee that meets twice yearly and guides research and policy on water management issues. Broader engagement occurs via an Industry Reference Group who are kept informed of progress and consulted on key issues. Anne-Maree Boland and Charles Thompson jointly coordinate the Horticulture Water Initiative on behalf of Horticulture Australia Limited.

Across Industry Program

The across industry program invests in projects that aim to provide wide benefits across the horticulture sector. Many of the projects funded would be difficult for industries to conduct on an individual basis.

Review of Horticulture Water Initiative
