About the Product Integrity portfolio

The HAL Product Integrity portfolio has three main elements, namely management of a portfolio of projects, conducting a ‘help desk for horticulture QA’ and participation in or management of a number of related QA and supply chain initiatives. The overriding theme of the portfolio is to assure the integrity of horticultural products – food production and amenity – by managing processes and projects that reduce the likelihood and severity of food borne illness, residue violations and other causes of ‘out-of-spec’ product, and to have a mechanism to manage such an incident should it occur. As such, this portfolio carries a large responsibility for industry risk management and significant interaction with other HAL portfolios.

The portfolio recognises that safe food is, behind price and quality, the predominant credence attribute in the eyes of consumers  and that the necessary outcome from the portfolio is safe food and sound amenity products that meet customer and regulatory requirements.
