Intellectual Property (IP) and Commercialisation Portfolio

Activities within this portfolio may include:

• Ensuring new varieties developed through Australian breeding programs are commercialised in a manner that delivers the greatest competitive advantage to Australian growers, and the best balance between broad access and commercial benefit to growers.

• Facilitating the commercialisation of technology (e.g. storage , quality control or environmental technology) to ensure that benefits are delivered to Australian growers in preference to world markets.

• Managing major projects that specifically involve the commercialisation of new products.

• Providing educational opportunities for Australian growers, industry representatives and horticultural research providers, to ensure that all stakeholders understand their rights and responsibilities with respect to intellectual property. This is particularly important for growers who are making use of PBR projected plant varieties in their farming businesses.
