Overview of Horticulture Industry

Horticultural production in Australia is valued at around $7 billion, making the industry a significant contributor to the national economy.  It is extremely diverse, comprising of more than 40 individual industries or commodities (nuts, nursery, fruit, vegetables, extractive crops, turf, cut flowers).

HAL is a national research, development and marketing organisation working in partnership with the horticulture sector.   It works with individual industries on strategy development, marketing, communication and research programs; all that address industry needs and benefit growers. 

Through HAL, horticultural industries are able to access Australian Government funding for R&D activities.
